Instructions
1. Preparation / Washing
- Preparation is KEY. Wash and thoroughly clean the area you will be applying to.
- Dry the application area and degrease well.. You can use a clay block for additional preparation. - Make sure the area is dry before application.
2. Annex
- Shake the bottle.
- We recommend applying the product with the folded cloth you get in the kit or the blue applicator we offer , as this type of applicator gives the best application results. .
- Make sure they are thoroughly soaked with varnish to keep all the ends of the cloth or sponge wet all over the panel. We recommend keeping the bottle handy - if your cloth starts to dry during application, apply more as you go.
- Start at the top corner of the panel.
- Hold the cloth or sponge with a flat hand. Using very light pressure, slide from end to end along the panel. Go back and forth, overlapping the edges of your lines. Spread the product evenly over the panel. If you miss a spot or have low or high spots in the first 1 minute, apply a gentle line back through that area. Make sure you don't miss any spots, but try not to go over one spot more than twice.
- You will have a 1-2 minute window to work. Do not return to an area after this time period.
*** Please note that if there is a significant mistake made when applying your coating and you need to remove it - removing the coating is much easier within 5 minutes of the initial application. If you need to remove the coating in that 5 minute window, we recommend scrubbing the coating with our degreaser. You can then reapply the varnish. If you need to remove the coating after it has begun to cure, we recommend sanding the area with p2000 water based sandpaper
3. Curing is the next step
- If you can let the coating cure in a garage or other ventilated indoor space - that's ideal.
- Xpro innovative car varnish needs 4 hours to cure. DO NOT touch the area or allow it to get wet for at least 4 hours after application. Once the lacquer has cured, you will have long lasting coverage. Note that the more product you put on, the longer it will take to cure.
- You can wash the car 48 hours after application. We recommend that you do not drive the vehicle to an automatic car wash (with rollers) after application. Automatic car washes are known to damage regular clear coat, so they can do the same to Xpro's coating. Our recommendation is to run the car through a touchless car wash.
- If you want to apply even more depth or cover additional damage or imperfections in the application, it often makes sense to apply additional coats of the lacquer. Make sure to wait 6 hours after applying the first coat. If you are experienced at this, we recommend water sanding the first coat with 3000-5000 grit sandpaper. Then just start again from the cleaning directions and then apply the second coat. In some cases it may even make sense to apply additional coats after that. Each additional coat can be applied a little thinner.
5.Common mistakes
- Stripe lines: This can be caused by uneven application of the product on the panel, too many overlapping passes on the same area, or insufficient use of the product. Not shaking the bottle can also cause streaking. Make sure to spread the product evenly on the panel and try not to pass more than necessary. Very heavy damage can also lead to streaking - in this case we will sand and apply additional coats.
- Rainbow-shaped or too low spots: the main reason for this is insufficient use of the product. Make sure you have enough on your towel. Using too much/uneven application pressure is another problem to avoid here. Try to apply with very light, even pressure across the entire panel.
- Breaking the integrity of the coating : To avoid this cracking problem, do not let the area get wet for 24 hours and do not wash for 48 hours.
- Dirt Stains: To avoid dirt stains in the coating, the first step of cleaning/preparing the area is KEY. If you have dirt in the end result, you have not prepared well enough.
